Day 67 (August 26) – Muncho Lake to Prophet River

A wonderful sunny day. Early morning reflections on Muncho Lake while breaking up camp. Beyond Muncho Lake the drive is through the Toad River canyon and over a pass in the Stone Mountain Provincial Park where we saw lots of Stone sheep. These are similar to the Dall sheep in Alaska but brown and grey rather than white. The area around Muncho Lake is the northernmost end of the Canadian Rockies. They end just short of the Yukon border. After leaving the mountains we came to the first settled area with farms since leaving Fairbanks at Fort Nelson. We spent the night at a Bed and Breakfast in the forest between Fort Nelson and Fort St. John far from any real town.
